Workshop on Synchronisation in Telecommunication Systems (WSTS)

Founded on the principle of international cooperation between governments (Member States) and the private sector (Sector Members, Associates and Academia), ITU is the premier global forum through which parties work towards consensus on a wide range of issues affecting the future direction of the ICT industry. Chronos is an associate member of ITU-T Study Group 15, Question 13 – Network Synchronisation and Time Distribution Performance. Network sync performance specifications are essential for successful operation of digital transmission networks including the support of, for example, mobile networks. Network timing performance standards are necessary to define the feasibility and most effective means of implementing a time reference distribution service. This includes the distribution of both precision time and frequency. Continuing effort needs to be put into the study of synchronisation issues in packet based networks.
