Available around the globe for positioning, navigation, and timing, GPS and GNSS signals cannot reach underground facilities leaving operators and workers deprived of the formidable advantages of geolocation, both for safety and management efficiency. SubWAVE the zone based positioning solution from Syntony expands the coverage of the GPS signal inside underground locations such as road and rail tunnels, stations, car parks, bus stations, airports and mines enabling the tracking of isolated workers in emergency situations, or simply to track assets and manage traffic in a more efficient manner.
More powerful than a GPS repeater, SubWAVE is capable of generating, in real time, genuine GNSS coordinates computable by standard receivers. Operators can monitor their whole network and locate in real time their assets and workers with longitude, latitude, and altitude coordinates. Syntony’s equipment is installed in the same cabinet as your telecom equipment and uses the leaky coax cables already in place to spread a perfect emulation of the “real” GPS signal. SubWAVE then emits multiple zone signals amongst your infrastructures, whether in stations or in tunnels, mapping your network according to your needs. The solution is fully compatible with any GPS receiver already installed on PMR equipment.

Locating emergency calls in such complex environments requires a technology that can provide instantaneous localisation for anyone in need. SubWAVE provides a seamless emulated GPS positioning service regardless of the devices used in any indoor environment; emulating standard GPS signals allowing GPS chipsets in any smartphone or professional receiver such as P25 or TETRA to benefit from coverage and send a zoning position to rescue forces alongside the distress call.
